Getting Started with Wishr

Welcome to Wishr! This guide will help you get started with creating and sharing wishlists with your friends and family.

Wishr is available on multiple platforms:

Creating Your Account

  1. Open the Wishr app
  2. Sign in with your Google or Apple account
  3. Complete your profile with your name and optional photo
  4. You're ready to start creating wishlists!

Creating Your First Wishlist

Step 1: Create a New List

  1. Tap the + button on the home screen
  2. Choose "Create New Wishlist"
  3. Give your list a name (e.g., "Birthday 2025", "Wedding Registry", "Christmas Wishes")
  4. Add an optional description to help others understand the list
  5. Choose the list visibility:
    • Private: Only you can see it
    • Public: Anyone with the link can view
    • Shared: Invite specific people to view or collaborate

Step 2: Add Wishes to Your List

  1. Open your newly created wishlist
  2. Tap the Add Wish button
  3. Fill in the wish details:
    • Title: What you're wishing for
    • Description: Additional details, preferences, size, color, etc.
    • Price: Optional price or price range
    • Link: URL to the product online
    • Image: Add a photo or select from the product URL
  4. Save your wish

Pro Tip: When you paste a product URL, Wishr automatically extracts the title, description, price, and image!

Sharing Your Wishlist

Share via Link

  1. Open your wishlist
  2. Tap the Share button
  3. Choose how to share:
    • Copy link
    • Send via messaging apps
    • Email
    • QR code (great for printed invitations!)

Invite Collaborators

Want others to help manage your wishlist? You can invite collaborators:

  1. Open your wishlist settings
  2. Tap "Invite Collaborators"
  3. Share the collaboration link
  4. Collaborators can add, edit, and organize wishes on your behalf

Claiming Wishes

When viewing someone else's wishlist, you can claim wishes to let others know you're buying that item:

  1. Browse their wishlist
  2. Tap on a wish you'd like to buy
  3. Select "Claim this wish"
  4. The wish is now marked as claimed for you
  5. The list owner won't see it's claimed - keeping your gift a surprise!
  6. Other viewers also won't see it's claimed, preventing duplicate purchases

This prevents duplicate gifts while keeping the surprise for the recipient!

Finding Wishlists

Browse by Occasion

Use the search and filter features to find wishlists for specific occasions:

  • Birthdays
  • Weddings
  • Baby showers
  • Holidays
  • And more!

Managing Your Wishes

Organize with Categories

Group your wishes into categories for easier browsing:

  1. Open a wish
  2. Tap "Add to Category"
  3. Create new categories or select existing ones
  4. Common categories: Clothes, Books, Electronics, Experiences, etc.

Set Priority Levels

Help gift-givers know what matters most:

  1. Edit a wish
  2. Set the priority (0-5 scale):
    • 5: Highest priority - Really want this!
    • 4: High priority
    • 3: Medium priority - Would be nice to have
    • 2: Low priority
    • 1: Lowest priority - Just an idea
    • 0: No priority set

Add Multiple Options

Give flexibility to gift-givers by adding alternatives:

  1. Edit your wish
  2. Scroll to "Alternative Options"
  3. Add similar products in different colors, sizes, or from different stores
  4. Gift-givers can choose what works best for them

Getting AI Gift Recommendations

Need gift ideas? Wishr's AI can help:

  1. Open any wishlist
  2. Tap the AI Recommendations button
  3. Answer a few questions about the recipient
  4. Get personalized gift suggestions
  5. Add suggestions directly to your wishlist

Tips for Better Wishlists

✅ Be Specific: Include size, color, and style preferences

✅ Update Regularly: Keep your wishlists current by removing items you've already purchased

✅ Use Price Ranges: If exact prices change, give a general range

✅ Link Everything: Adding product links makes it easier for gift-givers

✅ Add Notes: Personal notes help gift-givers understand why you want something

✅ Check Availability: Periodically verify links still work and items are in stock

Privacy & Security

Your privacy matters to us:

  • Private lists are only visible to you
  • You control who can see your shared lists
  • We never sell your data
  • Claimed wishes are kept secret from other viewers
  • You can delete your account and all data at any time
